What is your character's typical outfit? Can you find them in jeans and a T-shirt, or sweatpants and a hoodie? Are they the type of person to dress up when they go out, but then lounge around in pajamas at home? Do they enjoy dressing up, or despise it? What is their favorite outfit or article of clothing, does it have any sentimental value? Do they have an accessory that they always wear? A scarf, sunglasses, or a certain piece of jewelry? What is your character's opinion on clothes in general? Do they view them as a way to express themselves, or do they view clothes as trifling necessities? How many pairs of clothes does your character own? A huge walk in closet full, or just one outfit that's falling to pieces? What color does your character tend to wear the most? How many pairs of shoes do they own?

I'm using Anthony, since I'm trying to get the characters from The Dynamic Duo a little more developed. He's usually wearing faded blue jeans- boot cut, probably Levi's- and old cowboy boots. For a shirt it's either a basic t-shirt, or sometimes he wears a long sleeve button up over a t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteHe usually wears the same thing whether he goes out or stays at home. He doesn't dress up really fancy. He doesn't despise it, but he doesn't enjoy it. He doesn't usually have a reason to dress up. Occasionally he wears a ball cap or sunglasses, but it's not a favorite accessory that he has to have with him at all times. He thinks it expresses himself slightly, since he likes to be known as more of a cowboy than a city kid, but he views clothes mostly as functional. He doesn't own a ton of clothes. Like one nice outfit and then a few different ones to wear to school and work. And he doesn't have a closet, he has a dresser, so whatever will fit into three drawers is what he wears. He wears earth tones mostly. Gray, black, brown. Sometimes he wears white t-shirts. He has a pair of tennis shoes and a pair of cowboy boots.
Interesting, he sounds like pretty much like a typical boy, and there's nothing wrong with that. It just means that you're doing a great job at keeping him realistic. I'm very excited to hear more about Dynamic Duo and the characters therein. :)
